So we've been having mostly sunny, hot, glorious weather so prime time for Max and me to get outside for a play more often! (Poor Daddy has horrendous hayfever so we try to drag him out as little as possible.)
Here he is just finished filling up his paddling pool/car wash/teddy bath with the garden hose.
These next few were taken on a super fun afternoon out at Wellington Country Park. It is gorgeous and has masses of nature and wildlife as well as a little farm & petting zoo and many different play areas to suit all ages of children. Max had a wonderful time, and even Daddy nearly forgot about his hayfever!
Hang on... this goat is awfully still....
Oh it's alright, he was just having a snooze!
4 different-coloured lady alpacas
Max checking out an extremely fluffy hen! (We've taken to calling all chickens 'hens' as otherwise we think he might get confused because he eats so much chicken and it clearly looks nothing like these creatures pecking about the place. We'll explain the horrors of meat-eating when he's old enough!)
An example of one of the play areas, lots of sturdy, beautiful, natural wood structures; Callum was inspired to have a go at building one in our next home.
'Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!'
Playing peepo around the giant dinosaur!
Max liked putting things into this little hole in the dinosaur's tail
'More bubbles Aunty Mel!'
'That's the stuff!'
These next few were taken at Reading Sailing Club where we go with Aunty M to have a play in her boat, 'Beau'. We'll take Max out on the water one day soon.
The various strings of rope made for good tightrope driving!
Sliding down the side!
Harry Froy; birthday boy! Turned 1 on April 23rd, the same day as his Daddy. Little chap was still recovering from chicken pox but he coped with them like a star and healed up nice and quickly.
Max was happy with the food, as usual, as family parties in the Summer mean barbeques and barbeques mean meat, bread, crisps and puddings! Winner!
This image is meant to be flipped 90 degrees but the programme wouldn't let me for some reason... Anyway, Max was snuggling with Daddy on the sofa and decided to squeeze his legs under Callum's jumper! Needless to say Callum enjoyed that cuddle very much, and Max now does a similar thing with me, except he prefers to put his head up my tops... often in public... good one Max...everybody needs a bosom for a pillow!
I'm aware I take an awful lot of these dreamy close-ups of Max watching tv (it's not always on at dinner time I promise!) but he just looks so handsome! Dinner that night as you can see was a roast with yorkshires! Yum!
These glorious place is only a few minutes from our house and is called Shepherd Meadows. It's a lovely walk around various kinds of woodland and fields with this fabulous lake in the middle with a large flock of...
Callum: 'Hey Max, please can Daddy have some of your chocolate finger?'
Callum: 'No? Ok, well I love you anyway.'

Uncle Peej came over for a play last week, and Max fell asleep in his pushchair during a walk, he had slept for over an hour and a half, which is too much for a 2 and a half year old, so I had to do that most horrible of Mummy-jobs, which was to wake him up from his nap. As you can see from the picture below, my efforts were futile - he was determined to sleep. Fortunately, Guncle Peej liked being a human bed. :)
